Frequently Asked Questions
Who do you see?
I work with adults and adolescents (typically ages 14 and up) who are seeking thoughtful, personalized support for mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, or major life transitions.
What services do you offer?
I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive therapy in a trauma-informed, collaborative setting. I take time to get to know you, not just your symptoms, so that care feels safe and human.
Treatment may involve medication, supportive therapy, or both. My approach integrates a humanistic and person-centered (Rogerian) framework with psychodynamic thinking and motivational interviewing to explore your behavior, strengthen insight, and support change.
Do you offer therapy-only visits? What kind of therapy do you do?
I offer supportive therapy within the context of ongoing psychiatric care. For individuals seeking long-term, insight-oriented psychotherapy, I often coordinate closely with outside therapists to provide medication management and supportive work that complements that care.
My therapeutic style is relational and reflective. I focus on understanding your experiences, values, and goals, and on helping you develop a deeper sense of agency and self-understanding.
Do you offer in-person or telehealth visits?
I see patients in person at my downtown New Bedford office, which I believe allows for deeper and more connected work. I also offer secure telehealth appointments for Massachusetts residents, particularly for follow-up medication management and supportive sessions.
Do you take insurance?
At this time, New Bedford Psychiatry & Wellness operates as an out-of-network (private pay) practice.
I am currently credentialed with Optum / UnitedHealthcare and am in the process of contracting with additional major insurers (Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, Tufts, Wellpoint and Mass General Brigham Health Plan).
If I am not yet in-network with your plan, I can provide a superbill — a detailed invoice you can submit to your insurer for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
How do I schedule an appointment?
The best way to begin is by scheduling a brief 15-minute consultation through the website or by calling (508) 401-8605. This allows us to discuss your goals and ensure the practice is a good fit.
If we decide to move forward, you’ll receive a welcome packet with intake forms to complete before your first visit.
What should I expect at my first visit?
Your first appointment is a comprehensive evaluation, typically 60–90 minutes. We’ll talk about your history, current concerns, and what you hope to achieve through care.
Together, we’ll develop a treatment plan that feels realistic and aligned with your goals. Sometimes this involves more than one visit to complete the initial assessment, especially if your history is complex or you’re transitioning from another provider.
My goal is that you leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and supported — with a clearer sense of what comes next.
Where are you located?
The office is located at 355 Union Street, New Bedford, MA 02740, with both free street and on-site parking.
The space is wheelchair accessible, with a ramp and accessible restroom available.
What if I need help between appointments or after hours?
For non-urgent matters, you can send a secure message via text, the patient portal or leave a voicemail.
If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, please call 911 or 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or go to your nearest emergency department.
What is your cancellation policy?
Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed without notice may be subject to a fee. I understand that life happens — please reach out as soon as possible if you need to reschedule.
What areas do you serve?
In addition to New Bedford, I work with patients across the South Coast region, including Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Marion, Mattapoisett, Westport, and Fall River, and offer telehealth appointments to individuals throughout Massachusetts.
